

Meet Our Core Instructors
Clare
Clare holds a Master’s in Nursing from the University of Calgary and brings over 30 years of critical care experience, including ICU, Emergency, Pediatrics, and Flight Nursing with STARS Air Ambulance. She currently serves as one of Alberta’s Provincial Educator Coordinators for rural nursing.
Previously, Clare spent 12 years as Educator for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Short Stay Cardiology Unit, leading simulation education and key provincial programs like STEMI and ACS. She founded the National Cardiac Educator Group and served as National Director of Professional Education with the Canadian Council of Cardiovascular Nurses.
Clare teaches ACLS, BLS, and PALS courses to a wide range of healthcare professionals. Alongside her experienced instructor team, all active in critical care and emergency settings, she ensures all training is grounded in current clinical practice and tailored with additional simulations relevant to your specific workplace and learning needs. Committed to elevating nursing and medical education, Clare delivers courses that blend real-world expertise with innovative teaching methods to help healthcare providers deliver the highest standard of care.

Laura

Since 2001, Laura has served as a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) at the Foothills Medical Centre ICU in Calgary, Alberta—a Level I trauma centre specializing in the care of critically ill medical, surgical, trauma, burn, multisystem, and neurological patients. She teaches every aspect of ICU nursing, contributes to the provincial ICU orientation program, and is an active BLS, ACLS, and ACLS-EP instructor. Laura holds certificates in Adult Education and Advanced Studies in Critical Care Nursing. Recognized for her ability to explain complex medical concepts with clarity and precision, she tailors her teaching methods and pacing to match each learner’s skill level and preferred learning style.

Tammy


Tammy earned her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Calgary in 2002 and her Master of Nursing in Professional Practice from the University of Saskatchewan in 2021.
She brings broad clinical experience with both adult and pediatric populations, having worked in the Emergency Departments at Foothills Medical Centre and Alberta Children’s Hospital, as well as in rural settings including Olds, Three Hills, Drayton Valley, Rocky Mountain House, and Drumheller.
Tammy was a member of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) transport team at Alberta Children’s Hospital and spent seven years serving as a Clinical Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Alberta Health Services’ Central Zone.
She is also a certified instructor for several advanced courses, including ACLS, PALS, BLS, CTAS, ENPC, TNCC, and NRP.

Janine

Janine has been a staff nurse in the Emergency Department at the Peter Lougheed Centre since 2005 and has served as a Clinical Nurse Educator since 2022. Her previous experience includes working on a medical teaching and hematology unit, as well as serving as an events nurse at the Calgary Stampede.
In addition to her clinical roles, Janine is a skilled instructor, delivering high-quality training in BLS, ACLS, and PALS to healthcare providers.

Anne
Anne is a registered nurse with 10 years of experience in the nursing profession, including 9 years in critical care across medical and surgical ICUs. She recently relocated from Manitoba, where she spent 4 years as a clinical nurse educator. In that role, she taught the provincial critical care education program and provided education to staff in the medical, surgical, trauma, and neuro intensive care units.
Anne has been an instructor for both BLS and ACLS for the past 5 years. She brings a practical, supportive approach to the learning environment, helping participants build confidence in critical situations.
Anne holds a Certification in Critical Care Nursing with the CNA (CNCC-C) and is currently working in the Intensive Care Unit at Foothills Medical Centre.


Sandra
Sandra brings a wealth of experience to the team. She is a retired Flight Nurse with STARS Air Ambulance, where she completed an impressive 1,556 missions over 27 years.
She continues to work casually in the Trauma ICU at Foothills Medical Centre, with over 36 years of critical care experience.
Sandra teaches a range of Heart & Stroke courses, including ACLS, PALS, BLS, First Aid, Heartsaver, and Cardiac Crash.


Ann
Ann-Marie
Ann-Marie brings 25 years of experience as a paramedic, with a background in both flight and ground transport. For the past two years, she has served as a Clinical Educator with Alberta Health Services EMS in the Calgary Zone.
Outside of work, she is an avid motorcyclist, camper, and cyclist—and, much to her husband’s dismay, she also loves tackling DIY projects.


Ann is a Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Educator in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Foothills Medical Centre, a position she has held for over 12 years.
With more than 40 years of nursing experience, Ann brings a deep and diverse clinical background, including roles in the Intensive Care Unit, STARS Air Ambulance, PACU, and general nursing early in her career.
She has been a dedicated instructor in BLS for over 30 years and in ACLS for the past 10 years. Known for her practical, supportive teaching style, Ann focuses on building confidence and clinical readiness in her learners, helping them feel capable and prepared in high-pressure situations.
Ann holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Certificate in Critical Care Nursing.
