PALS Courses

The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed for healthcare professionals who respond to pediatric emergencies, including respiratory distress, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest. Through realistic, simulation-based scenarios, you’ll strengthen your clinical decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills while learning to confidently manage pediatric emergencies.

PREREQUISITE: 

Before attending this course, participants must:

  • Hold a current Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Successfully complete the PALS Pre-course Self-Assessment with a minimum score of 70% (study materials and access are provided after registration).

This course is recommended for healthcare professionals who provide emergency care for infants and children, including:

  • Physicians

What You'll Learn

Participants will develop the knowledge and practical skills to:

  • Apply high-quality BLS in pediatric emergencies

  • Recognize and treat infants and children at risk of cardiopulmonary arrest

  • Perform systematic pediatric assessments using the Evaluate, Identify, and Intervene approach

  • Manage pediatric airways and use airway adjuncts

  • Perform defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion

  • Apply pediatric pharmacology principles

  • Communicate and perform effectively within high-performance teams

  • Manage complex pediatric emergency scenarios through realistic simulation

PALS Provider

Complete your initial Heart & Stroke Foundation Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through realistic, simulation-based training focused on pediatric emergencies.

Certification Valid for 2 Years | Cost: $300 + GST

Initial PALS Certification

Designed for healthcare professionals and students completing their initial PALS certification, or those renewing a certification that has been expired for more than four months.

Blended Learning

Approximately 14 hours of combined online learning and instructor-led classroom training over two days.

Pre-Course Assessment Requried

Complete the required PALS Pre-course Self-Assessment with a minimum score of 70% before attending the course.

Simulation-Based Pediatric Training

Build confidence in assessing and managing pediatric emergencies through realistic scenarios that strengthen clinical decision-making, communication, and high-performance teamwork.

Participants will require the current Heart & Stroke Foundation PALS learning resources. Printed manuals can be purchased through ACLS ABCs.

  • PALS Provider Manual (includes Pocket Cards)

  • Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care for Healthcare Providers

  • Pocket Cards (sold on their own)

Renew your Heart & Stroke Foundation Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through instructor-led training focused on pediatric emergency care.

Certification Valid for 2 Years | Cost: $250 + GST

PALS Recertification

Designed for healthcare professionals whose Heart & Stroke PALS Provider certification has been expired for less than four months.

Classroom Learning

Approximately 6 hours of instructor-led classroom training designed to refresh your knowledge and practical skills.

Pre-Course Assessment Required

Complete the required PALS Pre-course Self-Assessment with a minimum score of 70% before attending the course.

Advanced Pediatric Skills Refresher

Refresh your assessment, airway management, pharmacology, and resuscitation skills through realistic pediatric emergency scenarios and high-performance team training.
