BLS (CPR) Courses

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) is a foundational course designed for healthcare professionals, trained first responders, and lay persons who wish to develop essential life-saving skills. The course is applicable for a wide range of in-facility and community or pre-hospital settings. As the cornerstone of resuscitation training, BLS teaches critical hands-on skills, including single-rescuer and team-based cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as well as the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Participants also learn to recognize early signs of patient deterioration and to activate the emergency response system promptly and with confidence.​

Prerequisite:

COMPLETION of the BLS online module or prerequisite challenge exam​​

Target Audience: all health care professionals, first responders, and schools. For example: doctors/ nurses/dentists/paramedics/ technologists/chiropractors/ students.

Nursing students are required to complete a Heart and Stroke BLS course before any clinical practicum ($10 discount with a valid student ID). 

Course Content: ​

• Chain of Survival

• 1-rescuer / 2-rescuer CPR

• High-quality chest compressions with a feedback device

• Multi-rescuer team CPR

• Adult, Child and Infant CPR and relief of choking

• Use of an AED

• Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies

• Maternal cardiac arrest

• Healthcare Providers: Effective ventilations using a barrier device and bag-mask device
