PALS Courses

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) courses are for healthcare professionals that respond to health-related emergencies including respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest. You will work through patient scenarios using simulation equipment to optimize your communication skills and work as an effective team during a pediatric crisis. â€‹

Prerequisites:

  1. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) (If you are expired email admin@ACLSABCs.com and we can coordinate a BLS class for you with PALS)

  2. Completion of pre-course Self-Assessment, which consists of three sections - ECG rhythm interpretation, pharmacology, and practical application (link and study materials provided once payment is received ). A  passing score of 70% or above is required for the pre-course Self-Assessment. You can take the pre-course Self-Assessment as many times as needed to achieve a passing score. 

Course Content: 

  • High-quality BLS​

  • Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest

  • Systematic approach to pediatric assessment (using  ‘initial impression, " the “Evaluate, Identify and Intervene” model)

  • Effective airway management and use of adjuncts

  • Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion

  • Pediatric  pharmacology

  • High-performance team skills

  • Practical management of complex cases​

PALS Provider

  • Initial certification for health care providers and students, or renewal for those more than 4 months past recertification.

  • Approximate length of course: 2 days (14 hours) of blended learning (Online & Classroom)

  • MUST successfully complete Precourse Self-Assessment

  • Certification lasts 2 Years

  • COST: $300 + GST

PALS Renewal

  • Recertification for those with their ACLS provider that is less than 4 months expired.

  • ~ 6 Hours classroom learning

  • MUST successfully complete Precourse Self-Assessment

  • Certification lasts 2 Years

  • COST: $250 + GST
